White House Pushing Dream Act

Just like the recent votes on the Bush tax cuts, many observers are seeing the planned Dream Act vote as a mere formality.  The measure, which has long enjoyed bipartisan support, is likely to fail in the Senate because of opposition from both sides, but especially Republicans who don’t want to give Democrats a victory nor anger anti-immigrant elements within their party.
