Rep. Nancy Pelosi's Profile

Nancy Pelosi is the current Speaker of the House. A member of a politically involved family, both her father and her brother served as Mayor of Baltimore. Her father was also a U.S. Representative from Maryland. Pelosi graduated from Trinity College in 1962, and interned for Democratic Senator Daniel Brewster. After marrying, she moved to San Francisco with her husband and began working in politics, eventually becoming Northern California Democratic Party Chairwoman in 1997. She was elected to Congress in 1987. She was the House Minority Leader from 2003 to 2007 and then became the first woman Speaker of the House. Official Biography
