In 1924 Daniel Inouye was born on Honolulu, Hawaii. In World War II he served in the Army and received the Medal of Honor after being wounded in combat. He was the majority leader of the Territorial House of Representatives. He is serving his eighth term as a U.S. Senator, which makes him the second most senior member of the Senate.
