Rep. Ciro Rodriguez's Profile

Ciro Rodriguez started his career in public service as a School District board member while working as a social worker. In 1987, he was elected to the Texas State Legislature, where he helped push through a law that guaranteed the top 10 percent of Texas high school graduates admission into any public four-year university in Texas. Also at the time he taught at his alma mater, Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio. He was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1997, and soon became the Chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.  Official Biography
